A Very Merry Unbirthday!

"Dear Father of Mine,

I know that you are confused and always mistakenly seem to think that May 26th is your birthday and, though I am loathe to expose to the world the fact that you might be suffering from just a hint of age related memory loss, I did want to remind you that your birthday is not until JUNE 26th.  Alas, because I do love you unconditionally I would like to present you with this clip in an attempt to make this otherwise insignificant, average day a special one for you!

Your Loving Daughter,

Scooby"

It was about 10 years ago now that, I believe, my father's sanity started to slip just the slightest bit.  I think that it was at that time that he became convinced that his birth month was May, vice his true birth month, June.  I am still uncertain as to how or why he has come to believe this, but it has been an ongoing topic of debate for my entire family ever since.

The remainder of my family continues to support my father's delusional new birth date. Whether this is an act of spite against me or, more likely, a showing of pity for him is still a mystery to me.  The only one known fact is that they are... one and all... enablers of my poor, dear, delusional father.  I don't know how to make them accept the reality of the situation; they aren't helping him, what they are doing is encouraging, nay, guaranteeing, my father's senility!

I, for one, shall have no part in this charade of epic proportions!  I love you Daddy, so I must exercise tough love.  Therefore, I shall not lie to you, not now, not ever!  I will tell you that I love you every year on May 26th, but I will NOT be reduced to sanctioning the deception that my mother, siblings, distant relatives and even the Department of Vital Statistics would have you believe!!  If I were given to bouts of paranoia I would be tempted to think that we are in the midst of some sinister conspiracy here.

It is quite apparent to me that I, and I alone, love you since I am the ONLY one who can ever remember your birthday!  I'm sorry if this saddens you, but I shall only ever send you my sincere, heart-felt birthday wishes on your one and only TRUE birthday... JUNE 26th!  Until that time...

A Very Merry Unbirthday to you Daddy!  I love you!

To sleep, or not to sleep: that is the question.

It's 3:24am and, for the third straight night in a row, sleep eludes me.  I have clients all day tomorrow starting from my earliest available appointment and not ending until I close and here I am looking like I smoked a fatty with Cheech and Chong in Scooby Doo's Mystery van!  (By the way... the only mystery to that van was the fact that it took network television 30+ years to realize that the smoke roiling out of the doors when "those meddling kids" climbed out wasn't from the radiator overheating!)

I would love to sleep, but somehow, every time I lay down in bed, I

Thank goodness for little boys!

*Driving down the street yesterday*

DJ, (Sitting in the passenger seat looking in the visor mirror): "Mommy, the awient is going to crash us."

Me, (Preoccupied with trying to dial Dave's number on my cell):  "What's that baby?"

DJ:  "The awient... it will crash us!"

Me:  "The alien?  Is that what you are saying?  What's an awient?"

DJ:  "You know... it goes woo-woo-woo!"

Me:  "Ohhh... do you mean ambulance?"

DJ:  "Yeah the awient... it's gonna crash us."

Me (Finally getting the phone dialed and putting it to my ear):  "There's no ambulance going to crash us baby."

DJ (Pointing to the visor mirror):  "UH-HUH!!!  Right THERE!!!"

Me (Glancing into my rearview mirror I see an MP following me, I quickly drop the phone to my lap... cell phones while driving are a big no-no!):  "Thank you baby!  Good thing you told me cuz I think that awient almost got us!!

DJ: "You welcome mommy... that's a naughty awient!"

Anything with lights and a siren is an "awient" to DJ and thank goodness for observant little boys because I was one step away from witnessing the awient's woo-woo-woo first hand!  LOL!

What Day is This?

So here we are, more than a week since my last post! This is going to be harder than I thought! I knew that I was busy, but I guess I didn’t realize how busy. For those of you who may be newcomers to the saga that is my life I will recap.

My oldest son, Raider, will be 18 in July and is out in the big blue world on his own now, so he doesn’t have a lot to do with the current chaos in my life, other than the fact that I don’t hear from him nearly as much as I would like… Ahhhhh…. Such are the ways of teenagers! Occasionally I lament the days that I was one... just to be able to have no real responsibility of my own and to have that sense of certainty that no matter what, I was always right.

It looks as though Karma is fitting into the family nicely. I think she is happy to have children to play with & I know Poops is thrilled to have her to keep him company as well. It truly was fate that brought Karma to us! ;0)

Karma

Dave served me breakfast in bed for Mother's Day this morning. He had also intended to take me out for dinner but, since it was raining it wasn't difficult to convince him that we needed to hang out at home and chill in our PJ's today... well with exception of playing my "Mother's Day Card" to make a short, teensy-weensy detour to adopt a new dog... hehehehehe.

The newest member of our family is Karma, a sweet, fat, three year old Beagle in desperate need of a new home. I couldn't have named her better if I'd done it myself.  How fitting is it that we rescue a dog named Karma?  It certainly couldn't hurt right?  ;0)

I don't know what it is about us and overweight animals, but Karma is as large in circumference as she is in length and must weigh every bit as much as DJ or Drake, whom are within 3 pounds of one another. (Drake, the baby, being the heavier of the two! LOL!)

So far our fat cat, Jay Jay, is less than pleased to have Karma in the family.  He is probably worried that his fat butt is going to be required to share his food with her and let's face it... looking at Karma, that'd be a scary thought for any animal, let alone an overweight cat that has unhappily but grudgingly accepted the fact that he himself must diet... something that he has had much success at!  Now if only we can figure out how to rid him of that FUPA... you know... the excess skin that he has under his tummy because it was all stretched out due to being overweight.  I'll be damned if my cat gets a tummy tuck before I do!

In retrospect it may have been wiser for me to allow Jay Jay to keep some of his weight as a matter of convenience.  It used to be that the baby gates were as effective a method of keeping him out of the kitchen and other areas of the house as they were the babies.... well.... No longer!  Our fat cat has lost enough weight that not only is he able to get his front paws off of the ground without breaking a sweat, but now his back legs actually follow!  Although he nearly rips the gate down altogether when his FUPA gets caught, he is now able to leap the gate in a single-ish bound!  *Sigh*

Back to the subject at hand... Karma.  I know that she will be a wonderful addition to our family once our surly, overweight, deaf cat decides that he will allow her to leave the kitchen.  Until then, I suppose Karma's diet will have to wait as I can't risk her prematurely gaining the ability to leap over the gate just to have her eyes scratched out by a miffed fluff ball with diet-related anger issues!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Jay Jay

Drake & Jay Jay... You decide who's bigger!
(It's hard to believe he's lost a TON of weight too... Jay Jay that is.)

Day 5 with no Internet! Seriously... I think Im going to have a mental breakdown if it doesn't get fixed soon! I say again... Thank goodness for iPhone!!

Dawson has his final soccer game today... That is if they don't get into the playoffs. I have mixed feelings about that. As much as I'd love to see them make it to the playoffs, I won't miss all the added chaos practices & games add to our schedule. It will be nice to have Mondays, Wednesdays, & Saturdays back! I don't know how the heck people with multiple kids in multiple sports do it!! I'd be a basket case!

So tomorrow's Mother's Day & Dave has decided that he wants to be a more thoughtful husband so he made plans for us. We will be going to dinner with our friends Heather & Steve & their two children. It's supposed to be this cool place out in town that you get to cook your own food at your table. Hmmmmm...

So for Mother's Day Dave made plans for me to hang out with FIVE kids at a restaurant where I have to pay them, (a lot), for me to cook my own food and that of my kids?! I don't know about you, but I think I was better off when Dave forgot special occassions! LOL! I'll be sure to post pics of what is sure to be a memorable day! Hahaha...

Daddy helping our little fat kid learn how to put his shoes on. A most difficult feat when you have such chubby little feet!

So wouldn't you know, the day after I decide to start blogging to keep everyone up to date with what's going on with the Okinawa Mulders, my Internet goes down. Of course it has to happen during the Japanese Holiday "Bou Nen Kai" (sp?). Which means Golden Week... WEEK!!! Ugh! Thank goodness for iPhone! :0)

Today was relatively uneventful. Drake had his cardiology referral this morning & then I spent the majority of the rest of the afternoon trying to get DJ & Drake to nap... Mainly because mommy needed one!

We decided to walk to American Village to eat dinner and ended up spending a small fortune at the Sega Club Arcade. I hope you enjoy the pics. Time for bed.

DJ makes sure his little PooPoo is good while he gets his EKG @ his doctor appointment today.

Dave & the boys playing an awesome interactive video game. DJ & Dawson r shooting the sea monsters while Dave helps Poops steer the ship.

Riding this weekend

So we took the boys riding this weekend at the end of our Okuma trip. The babies were tearing it up on their quad while Dave taught Dawson to ride his new motorcycle. Unfortunately, Dawson's bike is WAY too much bike for him so it looks like we are going to need to down size to a 60 or 80 until he gets it figured out. Knowing him, that won't be long! He's a little go-getter and is pretty good at just about everything he does.

We are also going to have to go ahead and get DJ and Drake their own little two wheel motorcycle.  I guess we are going to have to work hard on getting them off their training wheels.  The trails here just aren't designed for a quad.
